Coteau A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for Mrs. Joey (Geraldine) Roger, 73, who died Saturday, December 28, 2013, in New Iberia. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 10:30 AM until 8:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM. A native and lifelong area resident, Mrs. Roger was born on October 18, 1940 and was employed at the Daily Iberian for 44 years. She was a member of the Berry Bees Quilting Club and the Piece by Piece Quilters, and enjoyed camping, sewing, and dancing. Mrs. Roger cherished the moments spent with her family and friends. Mrs. Roger is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph L. Joey Roger of Cade; daughters, Natalie Roger Kidd and husband Larry of Nampa, Idaho, Elizabeth Ann Roger of New Iberia, Laurie Michelle Roger of Cade, Raven Roger Keooudone and husband Khamkong of Coteau; grandchildren, Joseph Kibbe, Fred Kidd, Adrianna Roger, and Don Derouen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Beverly Matthews Sonnier; sisters, Betty Sonnier , Earline Huval; and grandparents, Wilfred Matthews, Jean Matthews, George Sonnier, and Anna Sonnier. Pallbearers will be Billy Powell, Chris Huval, Mickey Gaspard, Khamkong Keooudone, Buddy Huval, C.J. Roger, Laurie Michelle Roger, Raven Roger Keooudone, and Elizabeth Ann Roger.
