Gladys Menard Mestayer

New Iberia – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, for Gladys Menard Mestayer, who passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home and will continue Tuesday from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm.

A rosary, led by Deacon Durk Viator, will be prayed at 6:00 pm on Monday.

Mrs. Mestayer was born on February 7, 1934, to the late Joseph and Leota Champagne Menard, and was a resident of New Iberia. A devout Catholic, she prayed her rosary daily. Mrs. Mestayer loved spending time with her family and playing Pokeno and Bingo with her friends at St. Theresa Apartments.

Survivors include her daughters, Denise Mestayer Haas (Rocky) and Mona Mestayer Delcambre (Kent); granddaughters, Jaselle Haas Langham (Jason), Erin Haas Broussard (Rusty), Jena Haas Suttoon (Aubrey), Heather Delcambre Landry (Cody) and Chelsea Delcambre; great grandchildren, Madelyn and Caroline Langham, Noah and Cruz Broussard, Ava and Ali Suttoon, and Carson, Hudson, and Jackson Landry; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Raoul “Ray” Mestayer; sister, Inez Menard Saltzman; and nephews, James Landry and Anthony Landry.

Pallbearers will be Rocky Haas, Kent Delcambre, Jason Langham, Rusty Broussard, Aubrey Suttoon, and Cody Landry.

Honorary pallbearers include Noah Broussard, Cruz Broussard, Carson Landry, Hudson Landry, and Jackson Landry.

The family would like to give special thanks to Traditions Hospice, especially Rochelle, Shonda and Michelle.
