Glenn Phillip Romero was born on November 18, 1949 and peacefully passed away on August 16, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.

He married his sweetheart, Betty, the love of his life. Their devoted 56-year marriage was blessed with four children: Glenn Jr., Mayo, Angela, and Cody.

Rock was a man of many talents and a strong work ethic. He spent 10 years as a rice farmer before becoming a chemical salesman, a career he excelled at for 42 years. He was also a part-owner of 3-D Fertilizer until his retirement. Through this work, he developed an extensive and widely respected knowledge of the sugarcane industry.

Glenn was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Loreauville and strongly devoted to the Catholic faith. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus since he was 18 years old, having served as Grand Knight for two years.

He dedicated a significant portion of his life to public service, a calling he pursued with passion and integrity. He served as an Iberia Parish Councilman for 24 years and on the Police Jury for 4 years. Throughout his many years of public service, his wife, Betty, was there with him, offering unwavering support. These years were not just about duty; they were also a time for him and Betty to form deep and lasting friendships with the countless people they met. A passionate advocate for youth and athletics, he was a Junior High Football Coach in Loreauville and coached the Loreauville Little League baseball teams when his sons played. He was a member of the Loreauville JCs and the Loreauville Football Booster Club, and he helped with many fundraisers for school athletics. His favorite part of sports was cheering on his children and grandchildren at all their games, with Betty always by his side. His lengthy devotion to youth sports was so impactful that he was awarded the Vincent “Topeka” Broussard Award on August 2, 2025, for his hard work and dedication to LHS football.

Lovingly known as 'Papa' and 'Rock' by his children and grandchildren, the joy of family was the core of his life. He cherished the time spent with his loved ones, especially during his favorite pastimes. Whether it was attending the horse races or watching them on television with his sons and grandsons, embarking on yearly hunting trips to Monty’s camp in Alabama, or fishing and cooking at his family camp in Larose - these were the moments that brought him immense happiness. He also took great pleasure in hosting his memorable yearly crawfish boils, a cherished tradition that celebrated his love for bringing the entire family and close friends together.

He is survived by his children: Glenn Jr. and his wife, Sandra; Mayo and his wife, Michele; Angela Westcott and her husband, Gary; and Cody and his wife, Garneth.
