Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Griffin James Jean-Louis, 70, who passed away on Monday, May 9, 2011 at his residence.
Fr. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Amari Robertson and Lionel Batiste. Gift Bearers will be Audrey Moore and Inez Moore. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Jean-Louis was born on October 2, 1940 to the union of Frank and Rose Mae Gobar Jean-Louis. His very first job in his life was that of a newspaper boy. He later went to work for Southern-Pacific Railroad, where he worked for 20 years. In his free time he enjoyed going fishing and having family gatherings. Each and every year he looked forward to going to the annual Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival, which he loved.
Survivors include his former wife of over 25 years, Mary Elaine Jean-Louis of Breaux Bridge; his son, Donald 'Keith' Jean-Louis, and his companion, Ophelia, of Lafayette; his daughter, Donna Sam (Ricky) of Breaux Bridge; his brother, Moody Jean-Louis (Ozea) of Houston, TX; his sister, Audrey Moore of Houston, TX; 5 grandchildren, Kaylia Dartez, Trailand Dartez, Joshton Dugas, Bryalon Dugas, and Shekobi Dugas; and 2 great grandchildren, Ja'Barion Sebille and Jabarik Sebille, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rose Mae Gobar Jean-Louis; and his brother, Milton Jean-Louis.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue on Saturday at 7 a.m. until 10 a .m.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Pallbearers will be Moody Jean-Louis, Johnny Louis, Alfred 'Jose' Land , Louis Green, Craig Louis, and Ricky Sam.
