New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Hardy Landry, 73 who died Wednesday, May 18, 2010 in New Orleans. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Mausoleum. Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. A lifelong resident of New Iberia, Hardy was the youngest son of David and Una Deslatte Landry, both deceased. He was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on October 19, 1937. Hardy and his wife Muriel were the owners and operators of Hardy Landry Floor Covering, until his retirement in 2000. He devoted his life to family and friends and was a supporter of Scouting and recreational activities for both children and young adults. His favorite pastimes were fishing, hunting, playing softball, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Muriel Hebert Landry; two sons, Davey Landry and wife Marcy, Curt Landry and wife Tammy; one daughter, Julie Landry Burns. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cade, Duston, Seth, Jacob, and Luke Landry, and Brittney and Emily Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Wesley and Harold Landry. Pallbearers will be Wayne, Davey, Curt, David, Seth, Jacob, Cade, and Duston Landry. Honorary pallbearers include Gene Babineaux, Jay Leger, Alfred Fortier, Elton Landry, and his many other fishing, and softball buddies he enjoyed so much. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 2:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Friday. Visitation will continue Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Michael Cook and the rest of the physicians and staff at Ochsner and Dauterive Hospital for the excellent efforts and compassion shown to Hardy and family during his last days of illness. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Iberia Recreation Softball Hall of Fame, c/o Community First Bank. Make checks payable to NIRD Softball Hall of Fame.
