Harold Robert Martin was born in Rayne, Louisiana on May 13, 1944, to the late Leopold and Anna Mildred Johnson Martin.  He proudly served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era.

Mr. Martin leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and cherished memories. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His journey in life was marked by unwavering commitment to his work and family.

Mr. Martin began his career at Winn-Dixie and faithfully served as a Market Manager for an impressive 43 years before retiring. His dedication and passion for his work earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike.

Mr. Martin had a range of interests that brought joy to his life. He could be found engrossed in crossword puzzles or tending to his vegetable garden. An avid football fan, he delighted in watching games with eager anticipation.  Traveling the United States held a special place in Harold’s heart. He even ventured into Canada once! Together with his beloved wife Barbara, he embarked on countless bus trips organized by the Council on Aging to explore the beauty of different places.

However, what truly fueled Harold’s happiness was spending time with his grandchildren. Family was everything to him; their laughter filled his heart with immeasurable joy. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to building lasting memories with them and cherishing every precious moment they shared.

Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Ann Dugas Martin; two sons, Kevin and Chad Martin; grandchildren, Bryce and Autumn Martin; his beloved dog, Chico; and a brother, Richard Martin and wife, Peggy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Joseph, and Roy Martin.

Pallbearers are Kevin, Chad and Bryce Martin, and Duane, Troy and Karl Guilbeau.

While we mourn the loss of such a remarkable man, let us also celebrate the gift of his life, and remember the countless lives he touched and the impact he left behind.
