St. Martinville - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Mallalieu United Methodist Church in St. Martinville, for Ms. Hazel V. Marsha Mae Flugence, 73.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.
Rev. Robert E. Johnson, Sr. will officiate at the Funeral Service. Scriptures will be read by Latricia Savoy. Interment will follow at Methodist Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Ms. Hazel V. Marsha Mae Flugence was born September 13, 1940, in St. Martinville, LA, to the late Samuel L. and Lena V. Batiste. On Saturday, March 8, 2014, Hazel V. Flugence was called home with the angels.
She was a member of Mallalieu United Methodist Church, she was a loving caring mother to her kids and opened up her heart and home to which she could help. Hazel was full of fun, laughter, and never sugar coated nothing that she wanted to say; she also loved to dance, eat, gamble, and have fun with family and friends. She will always be remembered for all the things she did.
She leaves behind her only daughter, Rosanna Roxy Batiste; two sons, Eddie and Reginald Flugence, all from St. Martinville; step daughter, Joann Chargois of Lafayette; two sisters, Grace B. Taylor and Norma Sue Linden; and three brothers, Ernest, Alfred, and John Batiste, all of St. Martinville.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Flugence; her parents, Samuel and Lena V. Batiste; her grandmother, Gussie Ester Stesta her great uncle, Milton Welfare Gardner; two brothers, Allen and Camillia Batiste; one sister, Serena B. Joseph; a niece, Veronica B. Narcisse; great nephew, Kevin Joseph; two great nieces, Treveya Joseph and Crystal Jackson; and her longtime companion, Dallas J. George.
Pallbearers will be Ernie Cole, Junius Lawrence, Bobby Joseph, Reginald Flugence, Carlos Linden, and Tommy Batiste.
Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Flugence, Ernest Batiste, John Batiste, Ronald Batiste, Alfred Batiste, Marvin Savoy, Lester Batiste, and Quentin Chargois.
