Henderson A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, for Joseph A. "Hamey" Dupuis, 82, who passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4:30 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday and continue at 8:00 am until 1:45 pm on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Henderson. A rosary will be recited by Fr. Francis Miller at 7:00 pm on Friday.
Deacon Marcel "Butch" Hebert will officiate at the Funeral Service. A eulogy will be given by his granddaughter, Jene Taylor. Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Henderson.
Hamey was a member of the Louisiana National Guard, Lafayette Post, for 27 years. He loved riding horses and going on Texas and Louisiana Trail Rides; participating in the Houston Salt Grass Trail Ride and the Henderson Atchafalaya River Riders.
Hamey was a painter by trade and raised cattle along the levee. He was a true gentleman and a cowboy at heart known by everyone, no matter where he went. In his free time he enjoyed watching old western movies, going dancing, reading and storytelling, and spending time with his family and friends. Hamey truly enjoyed life to the fullest and will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
He is survived by two sons, Hamey Dean Dupuis and Scotty Dupuis, both of Henderson; two daughters, Bobbie Broggi and her husband, Gus J., of Cankton, and Julie Bianchini and her husband, Dino, of Breaux Bridge; nine grandchildren, Joli Abshire, Ian Dupuis, Jade Bianchini, Jene Taylor, Lana Welch, Sydney Bianchini, Henoch Broggi, Lily Broggi, and Matthew Dupuis; and twelve great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joswell and Gladys Hebert Dupuis; his beloved wife, Roberta B. Dupuis; and two sisters, Hazel Bijeaux and Beverly Melancon.
Pallbearers will be Jade Bianchini, Ian Dupuis, Henoch Broggi, Murphy Taylor, Lawrence "Weazle" Daigle, and Lloyd Melancon.
Honorary pallbearer will be Dylan Abshire.
Hameys family would like to extend their appreciation to his niece, Nancy Guidroz, his friend, Lloyd Melancon, and St. Joseph Hospice.
