Hilda Calais

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Thursday, December 16, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Hilda LeBlanc Calais, 97, who passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Fr. Flo Calais will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Yvonne Huval, ;Beth C. Stelly, and Tara C. Simon. Gift bearers will be Susan B. Williams and Aline C. Roberts. Altar Server will be Trey Blanchard. ;Mrs. Calais was a lifelong resident of Cecilia and parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Ladies Altar Society. She was an exceptional seamstress who enjoyed sewing clothing and other items for her family and friends. An avid reader as well, she loved picking up a good book to read while relaxing. Her most treasured times in her life were those spent with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her family and the community of Cecilia. Survivors include her son, Charles C. Calais of Vicksburg, MS; her daughter, Olivia Bienvenu of St. Martinville; five grandchildren, Jude LeBlanc, Aime Calais Evans, Stephen P. Bienvenu, Susan Bienvenu Williams, and Alice C. Roberts; four great grandchildren, Ethan B. Bienvenu, Evan M. Bienvenu, Charles S. Williams, and Reese O. Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years, Paul C. 'Callen' Calais; a daughter, Barbara C. LeBlanc; a grandson, David M. LeBlanc; her parents, Eugene and Josephine Angelle LeBlanc; five brothers, Gus, Gaston, Allen, Francis, and Antoine LeBlanc; and two sisters, Noelie L. Rees and Aline L. Calais. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 7 a.m. on Thursday, until 10:45 a.m. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Ken Soignier at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Pallbearers will be Bill LeBlanc, Charles Calais, Jude LeBlanc, Stephen Bienvenu, Clint Guidry, and Reuben Bienvenu.Honorary pallbearer will be Larry Guilbeaux.Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia, (337.667.6464), is in charge of arrangements.
