Hilda Mae Noel Martinez

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for Hilda Mae Noel Martinez, 89, who passed away on July 14, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

Rev. George Bede Ajuruchi, SSJ, will officiate at the Funeral Mass.

Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery.

Hilda Martinez was born October 6, 1933, to the late Beatrice and Narry Noel in Arnaudville, Louisiana.

Hilda, affectionately known as T-Hilda, was the second oldest of eight children. She gracefully embraced the matriarch role and loved being surrounded by family and friends, especially on holidays. Her home was always open to family where there was guaranteed to be a pot on the stove and a fond memory to share.

As a young wife and mother, Hilda also extended her home to her three (3) younger sisters to help nurture and guide them into adulthood.

She was employed by St. Martin Parish School Board for twenty-four (24) years where she worked as a custodian at Breaux Bridge Junior High School and was loved by all she encountered.

She will be remembered for her stylish wardrobe, stiletto heels, and matching handbags. Hilda enjoyed going to Evangeline Downs Racetrack, casinos, and playing bingo. While she loved these outings, it was the presence of her grandchildren she enjoyed the most.

Hilda was called to eternal rest while surrounded by her family on Friday, July 14, 2023, which was also the day her beloved husband was called to rest forty-four (44) years ago.

She leaves to cherish her memories five (5) children: daughters, Patricia (Oscar) Batiste and Judy (Harold) Singleton, of Cecilia, La, Shirley Martinez and Nancy Martinez, of Breaux Bridge, La, and son, Darren (Patricia) Martinez of St. Martinville, La; three sisters, Virgie (Louis) Green and Rose Noel of Breaux Bridge, La, and Barbara (Larry) Joseph of Houston, Texas. A Loving companion, Jeffrey Williams of Breaux Bridge, La; twelve (12) grandchildren, thirty-six (36) great-grandchildren, five (5) great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rogers Martinez, son, Larry Martinez, parents Narry and Beatrice Noel, sisters, Rita Solomon and Velma Broussard, brothers, Allen and Adley Noel, grandson, Roderick Martinez, and great-granddaughter, Ahniiya Martinez.

Pallbearers will be Eric Jackson, Cornelius  Martinez, Dominic Martinez, Corey Jackson, Teddrick Derouselle, and Daylan Martinez.

Honorary pallbearers will be Darren Martinez, Oscar Batiste, Harold Singleton, Tyrese Martinez, Darren Noel, Joe Collins, Harold Singleton Jr., Johnathon Singleton, McKinley Demouchet Sr., Henry Broussard, Randall Menard, Demetrius Joseph, Larry Joseph, Albert Menard, Louis Green, and Fetchtral Gabriel.
