Loreauville – Private services will be held at a later date for Howard “Ski” Joseph Trim, Jr., 79, who passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.

Howard “Ski” Joseph Trim, Jr. was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on October 31, 1946, and was a 1964 graduate of NISH. After high school, he enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he proudly served our country during the Vietnam Era. Ski enjoyed a life rich in experiences, deeply immersed in the things he loved, and surrounded by the beauty of nature, friends, and family.

Professionally, Howard carved out a unique path for himself. He began his career as a wireline salesman in the oilfield, where he learned the importance of hard work and dedication. Later, he was led to become a handyman and construction worker, bringing a personal touch to every project he undertook.

Those who had the privilege to know him remember Ski as a man of eclectic interests and undeniable charisma. His love for the water was a defining part of his life; he was often seen gliding across the waves, demonstrating exceptional skills in slalom skiing, which lovingly earned him the nickname "Ski."

Ski was a true lover of the outdoors. He cherished moments spent boating with his loyal canine companion, Zoe, and created lasting memories at his camp on the levee, where he would gather with neighbors and friends. These gatherings were filled with laughter, storytelling, and the simple joys of life that Ski valued.

A talented artist, Ski expressed his creative spirit through his paintings, leaving behind a legacy of art that will be cherished for years to come. He was also a man of intellect who enjoyed reading and contemplating philosophy, delving deep into the intricacies of life, thought, and human experiences.

Ski’s passion for Cajun culture was evident in every aspect of his life. He found joy in watching people zydeco dance and relished the diverse sounds of music that filled the air around him. It was this love for local culture and community that allowed him to connect with so many others. He will be deeply missed.

Mr. Trim is survived by three children, Chelsea Faucheaux, Blake Trim (Amanda), and Shannon Viator; siblings, Melodie Darbonne and Drake Trim; and grandchildren, Jacob Faucheaux, Cassidy Trim, Nina Trim, Marley Trim, Blakely Trim, Kenzie Viator, and Valor Viator.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard, Sr. and Irene Lopez Trim.

Ski leaves behind a world more colorful than he found it. He will remain in our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.
