Hugues 'Earl' Joseph Blanchard, Sr.

New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 29, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home, for Hugues "Earl" J. Blanchard Sr., 76, who passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Thursday, April 28, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, and continue on Friday, April 29, from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Delcambre. Earl held several jobs throughout his life, including A&P (retired), Simoneaux's, Coca-Cola, Mobil Station, Darby Motors, Chase's RV Park, and the Iberia Parish School Board, where he also retired. He loved weekend family gatherings, and enjoyed French music, and dancing at Randall's. Earl is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Lydia Mae Gerard Blanchard; three sons, Clifford Blanchard and wife Debbie, Hugues J. Blanchard, Jr. and wife Sheila, and Earl Lege and husband Emile; two daughters, Elaine Bertrand, and Vickie Hebert and husband Forest Lee, Jr.; sister, Victoria Romero; 13 grandchildren, Cyndi Bertrand and spouse Larry, Renee Hoofard and spouse Allen Hebert, Christopher Blanchard and spouse Krystal, Anna Blanchard and spouse Albert Friou, Hugues Blanchard, III and spouse Kimberly, Brooke Blanchard and spouse J.J. Garcia, Jessica Estelle, Laila Estelle, Zaila Estelle, Ashton Faulk and spouse Tyler, Gabrielle Miller and spouse Jacob, Brittney Hoyle, and Tia Harris; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Galbert and Talita LaPointe Blanchard; brother, Robert "Tobe" Blanchard; sister, Eula Touchet; son, Jerry Joseph Blanchard; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew LeBlanc and Nevaeh Blanchard. Pallbearers are Hugues J. Blanchard Jr., Christopher Blanchard, Jody Johnson, Albert Friou, Larry Bertrand, Hugues Blanchard III. Honorary pallbearers include Earl Lege, Hailey Bertrand, Bailey Bertrand, Dylan LeBlanc, Forest Lee Jr., Zachary LeBlanc, C.J. Blanchard, Anthony LeBlanc Jr., Clifford Blanchard, Trey Bertrand.
