Irene Broussard Richard

Loreauville – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, December, 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Loreauville, for Irene Broussard Richard, 95, who passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, surrounded by her family.

Entombment will in the St. Marcellus Cemetery, in Rynella.

Rev. Barry Crochet will be the Celebrant.

Visitation will be Wednesday, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home and will continue Thursday, from 8:00 am until 10:0 am. A rosary, led by the Men’s Rosary Group, will be at 6:00 pm on Wednesday.

A lifelong area resident, Mrs. Richard was born on August 23, 1928, to the late Gustave and Irma Dubois Broussard. She enjoyed cooking, painting, crafting, going to the casino, playing games and making puzzles. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family.     

Survivors include her seven daughters, Mary R. Lopez, Gwen R. Horton, Janet R. Prioux (Ronald Prioux), Ann R. Pommier (John “Gil”), Allison R. Flash (Michael), Dawn R. Romero (Timothy), and Nichole Richard; grandchildren, Craig Lopez, Casey Lopez (Brea Browning), Candace Lopez Simpson (Trenton), Kevin Horton (Stacey), Katherine Horton Broussard (John), Kylie Prioux Dartez (Josh), Billie Prioux Mier (Marcus), Christopher Prioux (Mindi), Katie Dance Broussard (Zach), Nicholas Pommier (Lauren), Amber Pommier Olivier (Marcus), Zachary Romero, Landon Romero, Justin Fortmayer (Kelly), Gerik Fortmayer, Samantha Fortmayer, and Allie Fortmayer; 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband of 71 years, Howard Richard; brothers, Sidney Broussard, Rene Broussard, Edward Broussard; sons-in-law, Pete Lopez, Jr. and Wayne Horton; and a grandson, Rhett Flash.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her caregivers, Eva Rollins and Carolyn Francis and their staff, for extraordinary care and compassion.  The family would also like to thank John Lagan for many years of dedicated friendship and assistance with our mom and dad throughout the years.
