Irene dedicated her life to her family and her faith.
Irene was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith, spending many hours in chapel and finding solace in the Rosary, which she recited multiple times each day. Her devotion was a guiding light throughout her life.
For 30 years, she was a committed telephone operator with Bellsouth, where she diligently served and formed lasting friendships. After retirement, she enjoyed many travels with friends. Beyond her professional life, Irene was known for her talents as a seamstress, crafting countless dresses for her friends and family members.
Her greatest joys in life were her cherished niece and nephews. In their younger days, Irene delighted in taking them on vacations and day trips, creating treasured memories filled with laughter and love. She found immense pleasure in sharing a cup of coffee with friends and family who visited, always offering a warm welcome and a listening ear. She had a love for reading with a good mystery being her favorite.
Services to honor and celebrate Irene's life will be held reflecting the deep faith that sustained her throughout her journey.
She is survived by her nephews, John Choplin (Janice) and Shannon Choplin (Marcy); as well as her great-nephew, Noah Choplin, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness and love.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John Lloyd Gonsuron and Leonore Toucheck Gonsuron; sister, Louella Mae Choplin; and her niece, Aimee Elizabeth Choplin.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of her very special caregivers who always treated her with kindness, respect and love: Tina Credeur, Theresa Dupuis, Belinda Dugas, Elaine Mayes and all of the staff at Brookdale Assisted Living. You will never know how much that meant to all of us.
