Iva Meche Thibodeaux

New Iberia – Funeral services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, for Iva Meche Thibodeaux, 94, who passed away peacefully at Maison Teche Nursing Home on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Mr. Paul Fontenot will officiate.

Entombment will follow at Beau Pre Cemetery in Jeanerette.

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Iva Meche Thibodeaux was born in Acadia Parish on November 10, 1931, to the late Emar and Emily Bearb Meche. She worked as a teacher for SMILE Headstart for many years, and she was member of Lydia Methodist Church.

Mrs. Iva was an excellent cook and loved to feed everybody. It warmed her heart to have all of her family around the dinner table, especially for hamburgers on Saturdays and gumbo on Sundays.

She enjoyed playing Pokeno, but the thing she cherished most was time spent with her family. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren were her greatest blessings. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Thibodeaux is survived by children, Ricky Thibodeaux (Lana), Lynette Dancause, and Shari Tarbutton, all of New Iberia; grandchildren, Reggie Thibodeaux (Stacy), Kelle Thibodeaux (Jeremy), Shanie Dancause Fouquier (William), Tyler Tarbutton (Lauren), Alix Dancause, and Trent Tarbutton (Emily); great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Delgado, Gavin Tassin, Abby Gullett, Malloree Tassin, Emerie Tarbutton, Tanner Tarbutton, Ellie Fouquier, Taylor Tarbutton, and Mylee Vidrine; and six great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Dudley D. Thibodeaux; son-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Dancause; and siblings, Helen Rivet, Leward Meche, and Irby Meche.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Tarbutton, Trent Tarbutton, Reggie Thibodeaux, Gavin Tassin, Jeremy Crochet, and Ricky Thibodeaux.

Mrs. Iva will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace.
