Jacques Alton Smith

Catahoula - A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula, for Jacques Alton Smith, 38, who passed away on October 12, 2022, in Houston, TX.  

A visitation will take place at the Dion Hall in Catahoula on Saturday, October 22^nd, from 8:00 AM to 10:30 am.

A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am on Saturday by Rev. Bill Melancon. 

Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate the Memorial Service. 

Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.

Jacques Alton Smith was born March 13, 1984, in St. Martinville, LA. Jacques will be remembered for his incredible strength and resilience.  He fought tirelessly through his 8-year battle with kidney and heart disease, all the while uttering barely a complaint. 

Jacques was a proud father and stepfather, a loving fiancé' a devoted son, a protective brother, and uncle, and a forever friend.

He loved sports.  Jacques made fond memories during his many years playing softball and football.  He was happiest when watching Aubrey play volleyball, spending time on the lake with his family, playing Dominos with family and friends and listening to Classic Country on Saturday nights with his fiancée.

Every Saturday night at 8:00 pm, Old Violin will play on Classic Country and his loved ones will hold tight to the memories of Jacques, their very own Old Violin.  

He is survived by father, Ricky (Jennifer Casanova) Smith, Sr.; mother, Jacquelyn Taylor; daughter, Aubrey Smith; fiancée and love of his life, Danielle Doucet; step-son Beau Aucoin; sisters, Roxy (William) Finney and Minnie (Trevor) Landry; and brother, Ricky Smith Jr.

He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Huey and Merline Smith; maternal grandparents, Alton and Maudry Taylor; and uncles, Kyle Taylor and Alton Taylor, Jr.
