A Memorial Service will be held at a later date for Ja'Laya Janae' Batiste, 1, who passed away on December 28, 2025, at her residence.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ja'Laya Janae' Batiste, who graced this world with her vibrant spirit from May 6, 2024, until December 28, 2025. Born in Lafayette, Louisiana, Ja'Laya filled her brief time with joy, laughter, and an unmistakable sass that brought smiles to all around her.
Ja'Laya, a delightful little girl who lived in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, was cherished by everyone who crossed her path. Her contagious smile and playful personality were only outshone by her wild and crazy hair. She had a way of lighting up a room, often dancing joyfully whenever her mother sang, "Go Lay Lay."
This bright star had a special love for her Red Morphle Plush Magic Toy and an insatiable appetite for her favorite snack, Cheetos. She found joy in the simplest things, and those who knew her will remember her wild imagination, silly sense of humor, and the way she brought warmth to the hearts of her family and friends.
Though her time with us was far too brief, Ja'Laya Janae' Batiste will forever live on in our hearts, a reminder to embrace life with the joy, spirit, and love she so effortlessly shared.
She is survived by her mother, Alexis Babineaux; father, Ja'Kenneth Batiste; siblings, Zayne Brown, Amari Brown, Elijah Sharp, Karsynn Batiste, and Kai Sharp; maternal grandparents, Heidi "MeMaw" Hebert, Troy "Pepaw" Breaux, Willie "Poppy" and Katie "Gammy" Babineaux III; paternal grandparents, Thialynn "Gigi" Collins, Daven Collins; and great grandparents, Patty (Kenneth) Batiste, Marguerite Plower, Ernestine (Tina "GG") Guidry, and Cheryle Jordan.
She is preceded in death by her great-great grandparents, Jessie Collins, Flora Jordan, Clifton Jordan, Sr., Francis Bessard, Sr., Hubert Bessard, Sr., Alesase Batiste, Ralph Baptiste, Steve "Papop" Hebert, and Mr. and Mrs. Willie Babineaux, Jr.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
