James "Jibby" Joseph Martin, III

St. Martinville A Funeral Service will be held at 12 noon on Monday, January 20, 2014, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for James Joseph "Jibby" Martin, III, 63, who passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:00 am until 11:30 am on at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville. A rosary will be recited at 10:00 am on Monday. Fr. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Service. Scriptures will be read by Allison Alleman and John Delahoussaye. Mr. Martin, better known to his family and friends as Jibby, worked as an accountant for numerous years and was also a horse breeder. Jibby loved his horses and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially, Alex and Brandon, and Alexis, Alayna and Parrish he liked eating butter with Parrish. He is survived by his mother, Juanita Delahoussaye Martin; his lifelong companion, Suzette Bergeron; his brother, Reid Martin and his partner, Mark Smith, M.D. He is preceded in death by his father, James Joseph Martin, Jr.; his son, James Joseph Martin, IV; maternal grandparents, Ignace and Laura Delahoussaye; and his paternal grandparents, James and Mae Martin, Sr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
