James "Doless" Edward Semar

August 14, 1942 — July 4, 2014

New Iberia A Graveside service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia, for James "Doless" Edward Semar, 71, who passed away on Friday, July 4, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 pm until 8 pm on Monday, and continue on Tuesday at 9 am until 10:30 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Deacon Wade Broussard will officiate at the graveside service. Mr. Semar was a graduate of New Iberia High School and served in the United States Air Force. He was the founder of Precision Tool Works and GEM Industries. His passion was redesigning tools and was issued three U.S. Patents for his designs. He enjoyed college sports, fishing, traveling, and being with family and friends, and in his retirement, going to the casino. He is survived by his wife, Donna Rogers Semar; two sons, Steve Semar and wife, Kenya, and Scott Semar; four daughters, Melodie Semar, Helen S. Segura and husband, Barry, Ellen S. Romero and husband, Randall, and Mistie Semar; one brother, Charles A. Semar and wife, Bethany; two sisters, Jean S. Oliva and husband, Douglas, and Harlene S. Brumfield; six grandchildren, Jordan Kaye Lawrence, Brinkley Chris Segura Lopez and husband, Matt, Tyra Ann Derouen, Amber Nicole Derouen, Ashlee Claire Semar, and Emily Mae Semar. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris J. and Gertrude Carroll Semar; his brother, Allen "Tedo" Semar; and first wife, Gladys Broussard Semar. Pallbearers will be William Brodie Mire, Barry Segura, Barry Semar, Michael Stockstill, Troy Laviolette, Kevin Rogers, Charles Semar, and Randall Romero. Honorary pallbearers will be Bric Rogers and Brady Rogers. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Heart of Hospice and his nurses, Shelby, Terri, and Edward, for the compassionate care given to him during his time of need. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Heart of Hospice, 201 W. Vermilion, Ste. 100, Lafayette, LA 70501.
