Jane was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on April 10, 1943, to the late Eddie John Ewing Sr. and Rita Borel Ewing. She will be remembered as a dedicated and faithful individual who touched the lives of many through her involvement in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau. Her unwavering commitment to her faith was evident in her active participation within the church community. Jane was a cornerstone of the Ladies Altar Society, sharing her time and talents by teaching catechism to students. Her passion for the church extended beyond education as she served as a lector at Mass and lent her voice to the choir. Additionally, Jane selflessly dedicated countless hours towards maintaining the church's cleanliness, as well as the rectory and church hall.
Jane possessed a strong work ethic that was demonstrated through nearly five decades of cleaning houses with meticulous care. Her industrious nature was complemented by a love for card games, particularly as a member of a card club where she cherished playing bourrée. Furthermore, Jane found joy in nurturing animals over the years, caring for cows, chickens, pigs, and rabbits with tenderness and affection.
In her moments of leisure, Jane could be found immersed in her yard, cultivating a bountiful garden each year and tending to her vibrant array of flowers. She took pleasure in the simple yet fulfilling act of cutting grass—a testament to her appreciation for life's natural beauty.
Mrs. Dutil is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Shelton Dutil; three children, Angela Melancon (Randy), Troy Dutil (Crystal), and Shawn Dutil (Linda); siblings, Eddie Ewing Jr., Joan Dupre, Teddy Ewing (Cindy), and Jack Ewing; grandchildren, Jessica Melancon, Ashlyn Kravchuk (Matthew), Brandon Dutil (Jennifer), Devin Dutil, Peyton Dutil (Ashley), and Katelyn Anderson (Brandon);and great-grandchildren, Alexia and Kelsey Powers, Camden Kravchuk, and Holden Leger.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to NSI Hospice for extraordinary care and compassion; and to the countless others that helped with her care.
Jane's legacy lives on through the memories she created and the lives she touched. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace.
