New Iberia - Janice Viator LeBlanc, born March 11, 1931, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Hospice Carpenter House in Baton Rouge.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 9,2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church., in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.

Rev. Steve LeBlanc will be the Celebrant and Rev. Keith Landry will Concelebrate.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:15 am, at Pellerin Funeral Home. Eulogy will be read at 11:15.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Orres LeBlanc, her parents, Paola and Milton Viator, a brother, Dwight Viator and twin grandsons Henri Marc and Andre’ Dauphis Broussard.

She is survived by four daughters, Arlene LeBlanc, Genie Woodring (Steve) Leah Hart, and Bethanie LeBlanc. She has six grandchildren, Zac Woodring (Brittani), Spencer Woodring (Lauren) , Marie Elise Broussard, William Broussard, Max Hart (Jamie), and Hana Hart. Six great grandchildren Andre’ Broussard, Annelise Hart, Cy Hart, Hagen Hart, Maverick Woodring and Camille Woodring also brought her much joy. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren fondly called her Duchess.

Pallbearers will be Zac Woodring, Spencer Woodring, Max Hart, Willian Broussard, Andre Broussard and Steve Woodring. Honorary pallbearers are Joey Latiolais and Myles Guidry, close friends of the family.

As a “Pink Lady” Janice did volunteer work at Iberia Medical Center for 28 years. She served as secretary and president of the organization many times.

She was the first woman to be elected to the IMC board of directors, serving two terms and served as Chairperson her final year. She thrived being in the healthcare environment as her lifelong desire was to be a nurse.

As a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church since its inception in 1960 she was an active church member. There she served as a lecture, eucharistic minister, taught catechism, was a member of the CCD board (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) and DCCW (Diocesan Council of Catholic Women). She received numerous awards for service to both her church and the diocese.

Other volunteer work she enjoyed was time spent at The Shadows and the Bayou Teche Museum.

Thanks to all the wonderful caregivers involved in her care. A very special thanks to the amazing staff at Azalea Estates. Their giving spirit was evident through acts of kindness and love during her stay there.

In lieu of flowers, it was Janice’s wish donations be made to Wounded Warriors or Parkinson's Research.

Family and Friends are invited to a celebration of life at Pellerin Funeral Home, immediately following entombment.
