Janis Herring

New Iberia native Janis Herring was born on March 9, 1943. A resident at Consolata Home, she passed peacefully Wednesday, November 3, 2010.She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Ratcliff, son in law Brandon Ratcliff and two grandchildren, Lea and Aiden; her niece and goddaughter Chantel Rabeaux and husband Timmy; two grand nieces, Kirsten Bourque and Ashton Rabeaux; her nieces Debbie Tewell and Tina Boudoin; grand niece Stephanie Shelton and grand nephew Joey Shelton; her sister in law Judith Herring and niece Jena Voehringer.Janis was preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Alberta Herring; her brothers, Charles and Lanny Herring.She was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy and University of South Louisiana. She spent many years in New Orleans working as a chef. She was passionate about cooking, poetry, fishing and classic New Orleans jazz.She lived her life as a free spirit and always followed her adventurous heart.
