Breaux Bridge - A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Jason David Dupuis, 87, who passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025.
Jason David Dupuis was born June 23, 1938 on the Ruth Plantation to Eloise Chauffe Dupuis and Paul Patrick Dupuis. The youngest of nine children, growing up on the plantation instilled in him a strong work ethic and the importance of family. In his youth, he would spend time hunting in Lake Martin, and fishing along the banks of the Bayou Teche with his siblings and cousins.
After graduating from Breaux Bridge Senior High School, Jason went on to attend the then SLI, (ULL), and graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering. Jason would later enlist in the Louisiana National Guard; attaining the rank of Captain prior to his honorable discharge. Jason would then go on to work for the Louisiana Highway Department, followed by Southern Steel Erectors.
In the 70s, Jason, along with his brother Russell, started Dupuis Construction Company, erecting metal buildings throughout the state of Louisiana. Upon Jason's retirement from the construction business, he became a Commissioner with the Teche Vermilion Fresh Water District. Jason also held the position of Assistant Director, followed by Executive Director from 1993 to 2006. Jason was also involved in the banking industry, serving as one of the founding Board of Directors in 1983 for Citizens National Bank.
In 1993, Dupuis Citrus Grove became a staple in the Breaux Bridge community. Jason, along with his brother, Nathan, spent countless hours planting, pruning and tending to over 4,000 Satsuma trees; along with a variety of other citrus trees. Many locals and tourists alike would stop in regularly at Mr. Jason's roadside stand, looking forward to seeing those bright orange bags packed with delicious citrus, and ready to take home to their families.
Over the years, Jason's love of travel brought him to several countries all over the world, while making new friendships along the way. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his Canadian family, Lorraine, Gerry, Jackie and Phillip, in both Canada and Louisiana.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his daughters, Linda Dupuis-Geyer (Mike), Dell Marie Hebert (Scott), and Janet Dupuis-Lipari (Chris); grandchildren, Tori Graham (Gage), Kara Cormier (Nick), Nikki Geyer, Kathryn Broussard, Jason Shaffer, Dominic Lipari, and Sophia Lipari; great-grandchildren, Zoey Cormier, Charlie Cormier; baby Archer Graham (on the way) and his sister, Eliza "Toot" Dupuis, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
