Cecilia- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Jean Elnora Goudeau, 87, who passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Our Lady of Lourdes.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Friday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.

Rev. Greg Cormier will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Georganna Robichaux and Skyla D. Van Duzee. Gift bearers will be Isabella Cline and Alexis Barker.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Born on March 3, 1936, in Lafayette, Jean lived a life filled with passion, creativity, and an unwavering love for her family.

She had an innate ability to create beauty with her hands. Making dolls and ceramic art were her true passions. Jean's attention to detail and dedication to her craft were evident in every piece she created. Her dolls were more than just objects; they were works of art that captured the essence of childhood innocence and joy.

But Jean's creativity did not stop there. She shared her delicious creations that she cooked with her family and friends. Jean's recipes have been passed down through generations, ensuring that her legacy lives on in the hearts and taste buds of those she loved.

Family gatherings held a special place in Jean's heart. She cherished the moments spent together, creating lasting memories filled with love and laughter. Whether it was a simple Sunday lunch or a grand holiday celebration, Jean always made sure everyone felt welcomed and loved. Her warm smile, kind words, and genuine interest in others made every gathering a joyous occasion.

In addition to her many talents and passions, Jean was also an excellent teacher. She took great pleasure in sharing her knowledge and skills, especially when it came to making doll shoes. Her patience and ability to explain even the most intricate details made her a sought-after mentor among fellow doll enthusiasts. Countless individuals have been inspired and empowered by Jean's teaching, carrying on her legacy in their own creative pursuits.

In addition, Jean was a Girl Scout leader and a member of The Garden Club in Ozark, AR. She was a member of the Home Builders Association, she managed the family Cultured Marble business, was a Boy Scout leader, and a member of the garden club in North Little Rock, AR. Jean also worked at Abdalla's in Lafayette, LA.

She is survived by her children, Donna Marie Goudeau Engle, Christina Ann Goudeau Barker (Ronnie), Gwendolyn Jean Goudeau Harris (Steve), Carl George Goudeau (Rachelle), Jarrod James Goudeau (Amanda), and Linda Adair (Steve); grandchildren, Michelle, Brandon, Donnie, David, Beth, Mandy, Jason, April, Stephen, Greg, Kyle, and Baus; 31 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Ronnie Magnon.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Daniel Goudeau, Sr.; her parents, Joseph Cleveland Magnon, Sr. and Hilda Plouet Magnon; son, Donald Goudeau, Jr.; siblings,  J. C. Magnon, Juanita Buffalo, Keith Magnon and Jackie Mabry.; grandson, Nick Barker; and her great grandson, Jacob Massa.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod and Carl Goudeau, Steve Harris, Ronnie Barker, Baus Barker, Greg Harris, and Stephen Harris.

Jean Elnora Goudeau will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit lives on through the art she created, the recipes she shared, and the love she bestowed upon all those fortunate enough to cross her path.
