Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 2, 2023, at St. Rita Catholic Church, for Jeanette Theresa Blanchard, 89, who passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home.
A visitation will take place at Dion Hall on Monday from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM.
A rosary will be prayed at 2:00 PM on Monday by Rev. Bill Melancon.
Rev. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Cherie Foti and Angel Littlejohn. Gift bearers will be Jolie Theriot and Kira Brooker.
Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery.
Jeanette Theresa Blanchard, a kind and loving soul, passed away on September 29, 2023, leaving behind a legacy filled with compassion and warmth. Born on October 19, 1933, in St. Martinville, Jeanette's life was a testament to the power of love and generosity.
Jeanette will forever be remembered for her love and care for everyone she encountered. Her bright smile and gentle nature brought comfort to those in need and joy to those around her. She possessed a remarkable ability to make others feel special.
Among her many passions, Jeanette found great joy in playing Bingo, going to the casino, cooking delicious meals, traveling, and hosting vibrant Easter barbecues for family and friends. These gatherings were not only an opportunity to show her love for cooking, but also a reflection of the deep love she had for her loved ones.
Jeanette's spiritual faith played an integral role in her life. She delighted in attending Mass regularly and found peace and time for prayer. Her devotion extended beyond herself as she fervently interceded for those in need.
One of Jeanette's proudest accomplishments was leading the Bingo games during the church fair. She dedicated countless hours to ensure that each event was a success, bringing joy and camaraderie to all who participated. Her commitment to this cherished tradition enriched the bonds within the community and showcased her dedication.
As we bid farewell to Jeanette, we reflect on the immense impact she had on our lives. Her kindness, love, and ever-present smile will forever be remembered. Though our hearts mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the enduring legacy she leaves behind.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald Blanchard (Becky); sisters, Goldie Granger and Flora Mae Vincent; nieces, Rosie Griffin (Clayton), Dana Theriot (Beau), Kathy Talley (Pat), Maria Champagne, Melissa Lovejoy (Warren), Angel Littlejohn (Brian), and Cherie Foti (Russel); and her nephew, Harold Granger (Cindy).
She is preceded in death by her parents Elie and Lelia Doucet Blanchard; and her brother, Eusville Blanchard.
Pallbearers will be Vincent Griffin, Beau Theriot, Jereth Champagne, Hunter Foti, Angel Littlejohn, and Rusty Foti.
Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Blanchard, Harold Granger, Warren Lovejoy, Pat Talley, Sr., Clayton Griffin, Russel Foti, Chris Granger, Caesar Trahan, John and Patrick Talley, Nick Brooker, Charlie Chapman, and Brian Littlejohn.
