Jeanine Marilyn Peterson

Jeanine Hoffman Peterson, formerly of Beresford, South Dakota, passed away after a life devoted to caring for others. A retired ICU nurse's aide from Sanford Hospital, she later moved to south Louisiana to be near her three sons and the grandchildren she cherished.

Jeanine was known for her kindness and her love of children, always keeping a candy jar ready for any child who crossed her path. Living next door to the fire station, she watched faithfully for the firefighters' safe return after every call, day or night. She found great joy in being close to her grandchildren and, later, her great‑grandchildren, who adored her. She was an avid Farkle player and proudly known by her family as the Farkle Queen.

She is preceded in death by her spouse, Harlan "Pete" Peterson; her parents, Heinie and Francis Hysell Hoffman; and her siblings, Maxine, Harold, and Sharon. 

She is survived by siblings, Kaye, Jim, and Glenda; her sons and their spouses, Tracy & Denise Carlson, James & Kim Carlson, and Randy Carlson; grandchildren, Hope, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Kris, Alisha, and Nick; and great‑grandchildren, Alex, Gillian, Alfi, AJ, and Daemeon.

Jeanine's gentle spirit, protective heart, and devotion to family will be remembered by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Henderson Park Building on Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
