St. Martinville - A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville for Jed Gerard Gremillion, who passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House in Lafayette on September 25, 2025, surrounded by those he loved. He was 71 years old.
A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on Thursday.
A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 AM by Beau Frank Summers.
Rev. Andre Metrejean will officiate at the Memorial service.
Jed was born on April 15, 1954, to the late Cecil Bruce Gremillion and Beverlee Hollier Gremillion. A proud native of Louisiana, he was a graduate of Abbeville High School, Louisiana State University, and Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where he excelled academically and contributed to the Law Review. He also studied for a year at a boarding school in London, an experience that broadened his education and outlook. During his college years, he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity and in his later years, became a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1208.
Professionally, Jed was a dedicated and hardworking attorney, later building a respected career as a landman. His professional achievements were numerous, but his greatest pride came from the meaningful relationships he nurtured throughout his life.
As faith was central to Jed's life, he held the devotion of going to Holy Hour for many years. Jed enjoyed watching golf, and do-it-yourself shows. Together with Heidi, he lived out an intense and enduring devotion to the Catholic Church, especially through involvement at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville and St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia. His walk with Christ was evident not only in his service and worship, but also in his final moments, which he bore with courage and faith.
Jed's presence touched countless lives and he will be remembered as a man of faith, intellect, loyalty, and compassion.
Jed is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Heidi Theriot Gremillion; his sister, Genie Gremillion Summers; and his brother, Brian Thomas Gremillion and his wife, Connie. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and two stepchildren from a previous marriage: Brandon and Pam, all of whom he cherished deeply.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Robin Ryan Gremillion and Cecil Bruce Gremillion, Jr.; his sister, Rachel Gremillion Broussard; and his brother-in-law, Frank W. Summers II.
