Jill Dorothy Kuhn, aged 62, owner and innkeeper of Bienvenue House Bed and Breakfast in St. Martinville, passed away at home, Friday, June 27, 2014.
Jill is survived by her life partner, Skip Littlefield of St. Martinville, her sister, Jacqueline (Tim) Knopf of Everett Washington, brother Charles (Sarah) Kuhn of Bainbridge Island Washington, nieces Emily and Elizabeth Knopf, Lacey Kuhn and nephew Sam Kuhn as well as her many friends in St. Martin Parish and guests from around the world.
Born and raised in Cashtown, Pennsylvania, Jill moved with her family to Bellevue, Washington at age seven. She graduated from Fairhaven College at Western Washington State University with a degree in Elementary Education, taught kindergarten and later worked as a grants writer for Activos Mexicanos, the City of Seattle's Park Department and Seattle City Light. After retiring Jill was drawn to Louisiana and St. Martinville by her love of Cajun culture, good friends, fine food and great music. In 2007 she and her life partner, Skip Littlefield, bought The Bienvenue House Bed and Breakfast on North Main where she shared her love of Acadiana with guests from around the world as "The Gator Gal!"
A celebration of Jill's life will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2014 at Bienvenue House at 421 N. Main Street, St. Martinville, Louisiana. If you wish to attend, please call Skip at 337-394-9100 or Tim at 425-327-5352 and bring a potluck food item to share.
