Jimmy "Speedy" Legrand

Jimmy "Speedy" Legrand, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home with his loved ones beside him.

Jimmy was a quiet man who enjoyed re-cycling scrap metal, drinking coffee, and tending to his animals. He worked as a licensed tugboat captain for over 20 years until his disability.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Elizabeth Landry Legrand; sons, Toby J. and Ian E. Legrand; daughter, Sara Lynn Legrand; brother, Charlie Legrand; sisters, Peggy Choplin and Sally Blanchard; and his 6 grandchildren he was blessed with.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Solange Huval Legrand; step-mother, Lorena Louviere Legrand; and his brother Cecil P. Legrand.

We would like to thank the wonderful Amedisys Hospice workers who cared for Jimmy and brought comfort to him and the family.

There will be a Memorial Service for Jimmy at the Henderson Recreation Hall on Thursday, August 3rd at 3:00 p.m.
