Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, January 22, 2011 , at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joe Ann Brewer, 51, who passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette. Fr. Allen Breaux will conduct the services. Readers will be Lisa Finnorn and Beau Brewer. Gift Bearers will be Randy 'Crip' Cormier and Tee Castille. The Breaux Bridge community and St. Bernard School lost a champion this week. With a whistle around her neck and a smile on her face, Ms. Jo loved athletics. She spent years sitting at the scorer's table in St. Bernard School's gym keeping the books and scores for basketball and volleyball games. Jo gave more than anyone could imagine...most of all her heart. She was selfless and her passion for athletics was endless. She loved the children. Joe Ann was employed at St. Bernard Elementary School for 16 years. She was a member of Acadiana League, BAYSI, and USSSA Baseball. "Once a Crusader, always a Crusader" Survivors include her mother, Hazel Clark Lavergne; her husband, of 32 years, James Brewer of Breaux Bridge; her sons, Adam Brewer and his wife, Molly of Lafayette, and Beau Brewer of Breaux Bridge; her brothers, Kenneth Lavergne of Cecilia, Carl Lavergne and his wife, Annette of Carencro, and Randy Lavergne and his wife, Lois of Breaux Bridge; her sisters, Shirley Espiritu and her husband, Geri, of Mobile AL., and Barbara Lavergne of Lafayette; and her grandson, Kyler Brewer of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her father, Hillry Lavergne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Friday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Friday. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Lavergne, Carl Lavergne, Randy Lavergne, Adam Brewer, Beau Brewer, and Zachary Sprague.
