Joe 'Papa Joe' "Papa Joe" Donald Standridge, Sr.

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, for Joe "Papa Joe" D. Standridge, Sr., 86, who passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2016. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Reverend Rusty P. Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass, assisted by Deacon Joe Standridge, Jr. Interment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville. Papa Joe was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War and was also a member of the St. Martinville Rotary Club. He retired from Shell Oil after working in the oil field for over 30 years. Joe always liked telling stories about his oil field days and about growing up in the mountains. It was his tradition to go to Possum's every Thursday night and St. John's restaurant every Saturday night. Papa Joe loved his pipe, chewing tobacco, martini's, going to the casino, drawing, watching LSU and Arkansas football, and eating coconut crme pie. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and getting visits from his great grandchildren, Tyler Capritto, Emma Standridge, and Eric "Brother" Standridge, III. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his sons, William Standridge, John Standridge and wife Jody, and Joe Standridge, Jr. and wife, Rea; grandchildren, Erin Standridge, Eric Standridge, Jr., Jonathon Standridge, Danna Standridge, Steven Standridge, Jill Dubois, Jeremy Standridge, Jamie Standridge, Dawn Standridge, Joe Standridge, III, and Jennifer Branham; his special friend, Patsy Bertrand; step children, Byron Fuselier, Sr., Daniel Fuselier, Arlene Guilliot, Steve Fuselier, Sr., and Christine Bourque; step grandchildren, Sandy Fuselier, Steve Fuselier, Jr., David Bourque, Jr., Marcelle Bourque, Lana Thibodeaux, Byron Fuselier, Jr., Shane Fuselier, Travis Fuselier, Ashley Louviere, and Simone Guilliot; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons, Eric Standridge, Sr. and Paul Standridge; father, Joseph Orlin Standridge; mother, Exie Aline Standridge; brother, Bill Standridge; sister, Mary Standridge; granddaughter, Jade Standridge; first wife, Frances Martin; and second wife, Winonna Standridge. Pallbearers will be William Standridge, John Standridge, Eric Standridge Jr., Byron Fuselier, Sr., David Bourque, Jr., and Steve Fuselier, Jr. Honorary pallbearer will be Jonathon Standridge.
