Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Johanna Leatrice Breaux, 71, who passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Lafayette General Medical Center.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:30 am until 9:00 pm on Friday, and continue at 8:00 am until 9:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Friday.
Rev. Paul LaFleur will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Charlene Borne and Melissa Roscoe. Gift bearers will be her sisters. Entombment will follow at St. Bernard Mausoleum - No. 1 in Breaux Bridge.
Johanna was a parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas and Volunteers for Family and Community.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, working puzzles, playing Solitaire, traveling, and caring for her family, especially her son and grandson, who meant the world to her.
She is survived by her son, Channing Breaux of Breaux Bridge; four brothers, James R. Breaux and wife, Mildred, of Lafayette, Ellis Breaux and wife, Loula Mae, of Carencro, John Allen Breaux and wife, Judi, of Star Valley, AZ, and Randel Breaux of Breaux Bridge; three sisters, Stella Richard and husband, Daniel, of Breaux Bridge, Anna Stoute of Arnaudville, and Barbara Richter and husband, David, of Opelousas; her grandson, Ethan Channing Breaux of Breaux Bridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Odon and Mathilde Champagne Breaux; her nephews, Carroll J. Stoute and David Richter; and her brother-in-law, Carroll "Karo" Stoute.
Pallbearers will be Paul Stoute, Larry Breaux, Gary Breaux, Carl Wayne Breaux, Shane Breaux, and Thom Breaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Channing Breaux and Ethan Channing Breaux.
