A visitation will take place at Bethlehem Baptist Church on Friday from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

John was cowboy at heart and loved riding trail rides and was a member of the Breaux Bridge Rough Riders for many years. He was a man who knew how to shoe a horse properly and did it for many families and friends who had horses. He enjoyed watching old westerns and going to the casino, but most of all he loved assisting those in need of a ride to the store to get their groceries. John will be remembered as a kind man with big heart for the less fortunate and had the courage of a cowboy.
He is survived by his brothers, Maxie (Merline) Batiste, Jr., Rocky (Christiana) Batiste, Alfred (Beulah) Batiste, and Joseph (Ulnora) Batiste; sisters, Stella Caddie, Dorothy Charles, Mildred Batiste, and Hilda Batiste; sisters-in-law, Margie and Lindell Batiste; and a very dear friend, Ernest Ledet.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Maxie and Mable Lewis Batiste; brothers, Alton and Michael Batiste; brother-in-law, Danny Charles; niece, Stephanie Charles; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carnelius Lewis; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Batiste.
Pallbearers will be Alton, Justin, Calvin, Mack and Eddie Batiste, and Javon Charles.
