John "J.C." Claude Berard

Cecilia A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm, on Monday, January 6, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for John Claude "J.C." Berard, 82, who passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday and continue at 7:00 am until 12:45 pm on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Alisha Berard and Hailey Angelle. His grandchildren will serve as Gift Bearers. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in Cecilia. Mr. Berard was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having honorably served his country in the United States Army. He was retired from Williams-McWilliams Dredging Company, where he worked as a Boat Captain for 38 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Annette Champagne Berard of Cecilia; two sons, Clifford (Renella) Berard of Breaux Bridge, and Randall Berard of Cecilia; three daughters, Chris (Eddie) Angelle of Cecilia, Catherine (Randal) Veillon of Broussard, and Lisa (Phillip) Roberts of Nina; two brothers, Antoine Berard and Dr. Michael Berard, Ph.D. of Lafayette; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Corey, and Hailey Angelle, Alisha and Erin Berard, Hillary Roberts, Carly Duplechein, Nicole Breaux, and Benjamin and Jacob Berard; and 9 great grandchildren, Ryker, Jayce, Cayle, Gage, and Aivee Angelle, Oliver, Olivia, Oriana and Owyn Breaux. He is preceded in death by his parents, Amedie and Noelie Trahan Berard; his sister, Rose Marie Berard; three brothers, Stephen, Alton, and Allen Berard; and a great-granddaughter, Chloe Angelle. Pallbearers will be Clifford Berard, Randall Berard, Eddie Angelle, Hillary Roberts, Jacob Berard, Benjamin Berard, Ryan Angelle, and Corey Angelle. Honorary pallbearers will be Antoine Berard and Dr. Michael Berard, Ph.D. The family of J.C. would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. James Cole, the staff of Heart of Hospice, Scarlett Guidry, R.N., and Felicia Landry, C.N.A., for the compassionate care and attention given to him during his time of need.
