Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, September 5, 2024, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for John Allen Dupuis, 88, who passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge, on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM and will continue on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM on Wednesday by Georgie Blanchard and Clifford Hebert.
Fr. Bill Melancon will officiate at the Funeral Mass.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #1.
John Allen "AJ" Dupuis left this Earth for God's Heavenly Kingdom on August 26, 2024. He was born in Breaux Bridge on December 31, 1935, to Mr. Jessie Dupuis and his wife, Mrs. Helen Dupuis (Zeringue). Anyone who knew AJ knows he was a true hardworking man. He served as a Paratrooper in the Army. He then served as a Louisiana State Trooper for Troop I. Following that he served as a Policeman for the Breaux Bridge Police Department. Since his retirement he has been crawfishing in his pond and doing yard work on his property. AJ was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Great-Great Grandfather, and Parrain.
He is survived by his daughters, Tonya (Les) Berry, Nicole (Brad) Boudreaux, and Sandra Castille; son, Lonny (Pamela) Dupuis; grandchildren, John Burgess, Tyler Marssocci, Lacie Santaolalla, Kacie McConnell, Macie Santaolalla, Taylor Sonnier, Cole Feerick, Emily Boudreaux, Marley Boudreaux, Treva Guidry, Chad Guidry, Bobbie Castille, Crystal Whatley, Ashley Whatley, and Julie Whatley; 25 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Helen Dupuis; son, Jimmy Dupuis; and the mother of his children, Dolores "Bobbie" Dupuis.
The Pallbearers will be Cole Feerick, Lonny Dupuis, Tony Patin, Brad Boudreaux, Deanie Hebert, and Ken Devillier.
The Honorary Pallbearer will be John Bret Burgess.
Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
