Rynella A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Friday, September 20, 2013, at St. Marcellus Catholic Church in Rynella, for Joseph Theodore Broussard, 78, who passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and continue at 8:00 am until 10:00 am on Friday at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd., New Iberia, LA 70560. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 pm o Thursday.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Altar Server will be Ian Broussard. Scriptures will be read by Jena and Kathy Broussard. Gift Bearers will be Allie Mogerman, Beth Doiron, Kelsey Broussard, and Kristy Mogerman.
Interment will follow at St. Marcellus Catholic Cemetery in Rynella.
Mr. Broussard was a sugarcane farmer all of his adult life and was the owner and operator of Square B Farms, Inc. He was a member of Cajun Corporation and American Sugarcane League, and a former member of the Iberia Parish Sheriffs Posse.
Along with his passion for farming, he also enjoyed gardening and grew a variety of fruits in his orchard and vegetables in his garden. It brought him tremendous joy to share the fruits of his labor with family, friends, and neighbors.
Joseph loved spending time with his family and friends and especially loved traveling around the United States, having visited 48 out of the 50 states.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorinda Conde Broussard of New Iberia; two sons, Ted Broussard and wife, Walteen, of Charenton, and Troy Broussard and wife, Theresa, of New Iberia; two daughters, Pam Broussard Mogerman and husband, Michael, Sr., and Mona Broussard Doiron, all of New Iberia; two brothers, Bill Broussard and wife, Susan, and Edmond Broussard and wife, Margie, all of New Iberia; three sisters, Dorothy Landry, Linda Yoder, and Emilda Kennedy and husband, Edward, all of New Iberia; eight grandchildren, John Broussard, III, Michael Mogerman, Jr., Kristy Mogerman, Alexandra Mogerman, Jena Broussard, Quaid Broussard, Beth Doiron, and Gage Broussard; and several great grandchildren,
He is preceded in death by his son, Timothy James Broussard; his parents, Jackson and Olamp Romero Broussard; three brothers, John S. Broussard, E.J. Broussard, and Jack Broussard; his in-laws, Lillian and Antonio Conde; and his brothers-in-law, Raymond Yoder, James R. Landry, James Conde and Michael Conde.
Pallbearers will be John Broussard, III, Michael Mogerman, Jr., Quaid Broussard, Gage Broussard, Keith Melancon, and James Landry.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Broussard, Troy Broussard, Edmond Broussard, Bill Broussard, and Michael Mogerman, Sr.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Keith Melancon, Jim Landry, Triple A Home Health, and Heart of Hospice, for the constant care and attention given to him during his time of need.
