Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 4:00 pm on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia for Joseph D. Courville, 91, who passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021.** Due to Covid-19, the family requests that family and friends wear face masks and practice social distancing while attending the visitation and funeral service. **The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 8:30 am until 4:00 pm on Friday.A rosary will be prayed at 2:00 on Friday by Deacon Ken Soignier.Fr. Gregory Cormier will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Gift Bearers will be Max and Simon Boudreaux.Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Joe honorably served in the United States Army National Guard. He was a retired Sheriff's Deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Department for 20-plus years. He was a member of the American Legion and always looked forward to attending the meetings. Joe was proud to be a Cajun and was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cutting grass, and woodworking. As a pastime, he enjoyed listening to Cajun music and spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Guidry (Tommy) and Wanda Coleman; son, Robert Courville (Lisa); 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Shirley Ryder; and brothers, Norris Courville and Shelby Courville.He was preceded in death by his wife, Florette Landry Courville; son, Ronald Courville; son-in-law, James Coleman; great grandchild, Ella Boudreaux; parents, Clayus and Lednee Thibodeaux Courville; two sisters, Thelma Melancon and Florence Campbell; and brother, Ames Courville.
