Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, September 14, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Joseph Boston Goodie, 99, who passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. 

A visitation will take place at the funeral home in CECILIA on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 7:00 AM until 10:00 AM. 

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

Rev. George-Bede Ajuruchi will officiate at the Funeral Mass. The Reader will be Rena Edmond.

Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia.

Born on September 22, 1924, in Cecilia, Louisiana, Joseph Boston Goodie's life journey came to an end on August 31, 2024, in Breaux Bridge, LA at the age of 99. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

Throughout his life, Joseph worked tirelessly as a janitor and maintenance at Farmers-Merchants Bank, dedicating over 30 years to his craft. Though humble, his work ethic and commitment to his job left a lasting impact on those around him.

Joseph found joy in the simple things in life - from tending to his garden, cooking delicious meals, and repairing appliances, to maintaining his yard with care and picking pecans. He held a deep respect for his faith, attending Mass weekly, praying for those in need, and providing companionship to his wife during her illness.

His love for the French language and culture was evident in the moments spent with his cousins on the patio, reminiscing and sharing stories in French.

As we celebrate his life and the memories we shared, let us remember Joseph Boston Goodie with fondness and gratitude for the light he brought into our lives. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Sedonia Lewis Girard, Sasha Lewis, Kevin Goodie, Christopher Goodie, Jarod Goodie, Scory Demouchet, Christine Williams, Kizzy Demouchet, Cashin Demouchet, Joseph Demouchet, Shelton Parker, Shermaine Parker, Rashida Williams, Trysten LeBlanc, Melvin Goodie, Jr., Nicole Foster, Jasmine Qwen Thibeaux,and Anita Joseph; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Azma Soloman Goodie; parents, Jean Batiste and Adelle Gobar Goodie; sons, Alton Goodie, Melvin Goodie, and Shelton Goodie; daughters, Mary Lewis and Velma Goodie; brother, Oscar Goodie; sister, Marie Goodie; and two grandchildren, Demetrius Goodie and Quintin Goodie.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Goodie, Scory Demouchet, Shelton Parker, Dennis Potier, Mike Davis, and Melvin Goodie, Jr. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Goodie, Jarod Goodie, Jasmine Qwen Thibeaux, Cashin Demouchet, Rashida Williams, and Joseph Demouchet.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dennis Potier, Schquanna Domonter, Latasha Williams, Anita Demouchet, Tashia Lewis and Compassass Hospice for the care that was provided to their loved one.
