Joseph "Pete" Gaston John, Sr.

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, April 12, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Joseph Gaston Pete John, Sr., 74, who passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 7:30 am until 10:30 am on Saturday, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Delcambre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Shirley Thibodeaux. Interment will follow at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Breaux Bridge. Joseph enjoyed spending time with his family and friends while visiting over a cup or two of good old fashioned coffee. As a pastime he enjoyed working in his garden tending to his Okra and cutting grass. Joseph was a man of many words who enlightened family and friends with his words of wisdom and welcomed lending a tender ear to listen to anyones troubles. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Aza Mae John of Henderson; four sons, Moses (Darlene) Drake, Jr., Joseph G. John, Jr., Emanuel (Jessica) John, and Homer John, all of Henderson; three daughters, Sheila J. (Joseph C.) Wiltz of Houston, TX, Nancy John of Henderson, and Mona John of Breaux Bridge; his brother, McAlvin John of Port Arthur, TX, nine grandchildren, Shatanya Carmouche, Anthony Barras, Jalen John, Alijah John, Kennedy Wiltz, Malachi John, Isaiah John, Josiah John, and Nalen Lewis. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nolton and Eunice Wiltz John; his brother, Whitney John; two sisters, Ella Mae John and Mary Joyce J. Thibodeaux; and one grandchild, Theresa Ann John. Pallbearers will be Shelton Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Willie Batiste, Jalen John, Anthony Barras, and Gerald Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Moses Drake, Jr., Joseph G. John, Jr., Emanuel John, Homer John, Joseph C.
