Joseph Dalbert Sampy, Sr.

Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, April 25, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church honoring the life of Joseph Dalbert Sampy, Sr., 70, who passed away on April 9, 2026, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 AM to 10:00.

A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 AM on Saturday.

Rev. George Bebe Ajuruchi, SSJ will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Joann Cahn and Christy Bruno. Gift bearers will be Jordyn Sampy and Louanna Sampy.

Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1.

His life was marked by unwavering dedication, both to his career and to the activities he cherished in retirement.

After pursuing a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), Joseph embarked on a distinguished career with Union Pacific Railroad working as a signalman and foreman. Over the course of 40 years of committed service, he exemplified professionalism and leadership, culminating in his role as president of the local union. His steadfast commitment to his work and colleagues left a lasting impression on those around him.

Upon retirement, Joseph embraced a well-earned period of leisure and enjoyment. He delighted in traveling to new places, fishing, and tending to his property-activities that brought him great fulfillment and joy. These pastimes reflected his appreciation for exploration, nature, and personal care.

He is survived by his wife, Cleo Nadine Sampy; children, Joseph Dalbert Sampy, Jr., Earl Sampy (Kiamani), Jason Sampy (Shimeka), Jamison Sampy, Tiara Sampy, Stephanie Sampy and Linkin Lambert (James); step-children, Sherea Mitchell, Diane Williams and Carl McDougle; siblings, Loggis Sampy, Jr. (Sharon), John Patrick Sampy (Melissa), Dary Sampy, Sr. (Louanna), Linda Bruno, and Paul Lewis (Julie); 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parens, Loggis Sampy, Sr. and Yola Sampy Session; and his children, Adrienne Sampy and Stephen O'Neal.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Sampy, Jr., Jason Sampy, Jamison Sampy, Patrick Sampy, Jr., Kaleb Sampy and Carl McDougle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Sampy, Loggis Sampy, Jr., Patrick Sampy, Dary Sampy, Sr., Wilbert Ledet, Sr. and Paul Lewis.
