Lydia Funeral services will be at 9:00 AM, Sunday, December 22, 2013, at the Lydia United Pentecostal Church in Lydia for Joseph David Simar, 79, who died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in New Iberia.
Additional services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 22, 2013 at The United Pentecostal Church of Evangeline, in Evangeline, LA. Interment will follow in the Bluff Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 5:30 PM until 8:00 PM at the Lydia United Pentecostal Church in Lydia. Visitation will continue on Sunday from 8:00 AM until 9:00 AM.
Born on November 11, 1934, in Evangeline, Mr. Simar was a longtime resident of Lydia, and proudly served our country in the U.S. Air Force and the National Guard. He worked in the oilfield for several years, and enjoyed traveling and playing his guitar.
Survivors include wife, Daisy Borel Simar of Lydia; children, Twyla Paulette and husband Joey Paulette of Vivian, Dwanna Landrum and husband Dr. Clyde Landrum of New Iberia, Vicky Lewis of New Iberia, Kip Simar and wife Audra Simar of Sparta, TN, Jody Simar and wife Melissa Simar of Lydia, Jeannine Byerly and husband Dr. Carl Byerly of Clarkston, Michigan; brother, Royce Simar and wife Betty Simar of Cookeville, TN; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland George Simar and Alicia Doucet Simar; brothers, Lloyd Simar, Ivan Simar; and a sister, Pearl Tucker.
