Joseph Macy Usie

Joseph Macy Usie, 92, of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. Joseph was born on October 3, 1932, in Henderson, Louisiana to Robert and Celonie Usie.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ida Mae Latiolais Usie; 4 children, Rebecca Guidry, Elizabeth Adinolfi, Randy Usie (Melissa) and Wayne Usie (Maureen); 14 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Usie; mother, Celonie Benoit Usie; brother, Alfred Usie; and sister, Hazel Serrette.

Joseph was known as Joe at work, Macy with his family and friends, and Gramps by his grandchildren. Macy was both a gentleman and a gentle man and was adored by his family. He was kind to all who met him.

Macy served in the Army National Guard for 9 years out of Fort Polk, Louisiana.

Macy started his career as an accountant with the Breaux Bridge sugar mill. He went on to have a successful career with Dwight Andrus for 37 years in Lafayette. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and an active volunteer as an usher for 64 years and a founding member of St. Bernard's Chapel of Perpetual Adoration Holy Hour.

He enjoyed picking pecans, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on May 30, 2025, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, followed by burial at the St. Bernard mausoleum. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the funeral on May 30, 2025, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Michael Special School in New Orleans.

Macy will be remembered for his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love for his family.
