Joseph 'Bebo' Westmoreland

New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Joseph Ray "Bebo" Westmoreland, 55, who passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2016. A gathering of family and friends will be the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, and continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery in Coteau. Bebo was born in Leeseville, LA on March 14, 1961 to Qunita Lee Kay and the late Melvin Westmoreland. He was a longtime resident of New Iberia, and worked as a dispatcher in the oilfield for over 30 years. Bebo was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who put his family above all else. He was the kindest and most thoughtful and generous person you could ever know. He always put others before himself, and he loved his in-laws to death. He was hardworking and full of knowledge, and at the same time, goofy, crazy, fun-loving, and conniving. He loved woodworking, doing puzzles, fishing, and picking on Pat. Bebo did not have a mean bone in his body. He brought so much joy to everyone he met, and will be deeply missed. In addition to his mother, Bebo is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Russell Westmoreland; two sons, Darrell Richard and wife Elke, and Patrick "Joe" Joseph Bohannon, Sr., all of New Iberia; two sisters, Ramona Brown and husband Roy of Leesville, and Rosemary Whalen and husband Jackie of Pensacola, FL; five grandchildren, Samantha Bourque and husband Rusty, Seth Richard and fiance Taylor, Patrick "Joey" Bohannon, Jr., Lyndsey Richard and fiance Colby Boudreaux, and Brittni Bohannon; four great-grandchildren; goddaughter, Lanie Langlinais; and his mother-in-law, Vivian Gary. Bebo was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Westmoreland; grandmother, Elsie Kay; and father-in-law, Paul Gary.
