New Iberia Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 26, 2014, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Joshua Hymel, 29, who died on Monday, June 23, 2014 in New Iberia. Interment will be at a later date. Rev. Eugene Tremie will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A rosary will be prayed at 10:30 AM on Thursday. Joshua was born on May 9, 1985 in New Orleans, and worked has a welder for Burner Fire Control. A veteran of the U.S. Army, and an avid New Orleans Saints fan, he enjoyed crabbing, making everyone laugh, and spending time with his family and friends while enjoying a cold one. Survivors include his wife, Starla Gachassin Hymel of New Iberia; children, Kash Hymel, Aliana Trahan, and one due to arrive in January; mother, Monique Hymel of Lafayette; father, Gene Dale of New Iberia; biological father, Samuel Louis Tift of New Iberia; sister, Michelle Smith and wife Victoria of St. Martinville; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rickey and Cheryl Gachassin of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Cheramie Gachassin of New Iberia; brother-in-law, Rickey Gachassin, Jr. of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Neda Dupuis, Dennis Hymel, Louis Dale, Catherine Dale; uncle, Dennis Joseph Hymel, II; and a cousin, Dennis Joseph Hymel, III.
