A native and resident of New Iberia, Joy Ann Trappey was born on December 7, 1948, to the late John Graff and Alice “Tettie” Romero Trappey.

A proud graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy in New Iberia, Joy furthered her education at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. For over twenty years, she dedicated herself to her work as a cashier at Walmart, where her warm demeanor and friendly smile greeted countless customers.

Joy delighted in the simple things in life. She enjoyed playing cards with her dear friend Doris, engaging in friendly competition that deepened their bond, and feeding Cheetos to her beloved dog, Cruz, whose joy mirrored her own.

Joy's greatest pride and joy came from her family. She was a loving and supportive mother, and a cherished grandmother with an exceptional heart. Always putting the needs of others before her own, Joy extended a helping hand and a warm smile, offering comfort and strength to everyone who crossed her path. Her love formed a safety net that surrounded her family, providing warmth and reassurance in times of need. She will be deeply missed.

Ms. Trappey is survived by her children, Tricia Segura Roberts (Travis Roberts) and Jeremy Segura (Deah Dooley); step-son, Troy Segura; son-in-law, Anthony Louviere; grandchildren, Hunter Cates (Brianna), Cayden Lasseigne, Logan Louviere, Corvin Segura, and Ryker Segura; great-grandson on the way, Dallas Reed Cates; sister, Maud Gondran; nephews, Leander Gondran III, Sean Gondran, and Christopher Gondran; and nieces, Naomi Botkin and Danika Botkin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Tiffany Segura Louviere; and sister, Toni Trappey.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Lisa Aucoin and Deah Dooley; Dr. David Daly, and Dr. Jorge Rafael Belgodere; and to Hope Hospice for extraordinary care.

Joy was known for her kindness and generosity, who touched the lives of many with her warm heart and gentle spirit. May she rest in peace.
