A loving mother and grandmother, Julie Louviere Watkins, a native of New Iberia and the wife of Guyton H. Watkins, died Saturday, February 8, 2014. She was 86.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 PM Monday, February 10, 2014 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia, with Rev. Ed Degeyter as the Celebrant. Readers will be Elizabeth Pannell and A. E. Bayard. Gift Bearers will be Ellen Watkins and Graham Watkins. Serving as pallbearers, Andrew Bayard, Miles Watkins, David Bayard, Glenn Carriere, James Bayard and Jacques Cousin. Interment will follow in Rosehill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia.
Mrs. Watkins was a graduate of Mt. Carmel Academy and Southwestern Louisiana Institute. She was a devoted and active member of St. Peter's Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Guyton H. Watkins; and their four children, Hampton Watkins and wife Catlin Donnelly, Mary Bayard and husband A. E. Bayard, James Watkins and wife Elizabeth Pannell, and Julie Pourciau and husband Wayne Pourciau.
She was the proud grandmother of 6 grandchildren, Andrew, David, and James Bayard, Miles and Graham Watkins, and Ellen Watkins. She is also survived by her brother, James Peter Louviere, and his four children, Michelle, Jacques, Remy, and Jeanne Louviere.
Mrs. Watkins was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence J. Louviere and Julie LaFleur Louviere, and her brother Clarence J. Louviere, Jr.
The family wishes to thank Debbie Augustine, Gladys Dorsey, Shemeka Broussard, and Ada Williams, who provided constant care and assistance over the past several years. Also, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
