Karl McClain Preston, Sr. was born on June 14, 1961, to the late Howard Preston, Sr. and Sarah Flemming Preston. He was the proud owner and operator of Preston's Janitorial Service, where his work ethic and dedication shone brightly. He spent countless hours ensuring spaces were clean and welcoming, reflecting his genuine desire to uplift those around him. Beyond his professional life, Karl was known for his infectious personality that brought joy to everyone he met. A charismatic individual with a penchant for humor, he was a natural comedian who filled any room with laughter and warmth.
At the heart of Karl's life was his passion for music. He served as the choir leader at both Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and First Jerusalem Baptist Church, where he shared his love for singing and inspired others through his devotion to faith. His contributions went beyond music; Karl was a pillar of support within his community. He established the first soup kitchen at First Jerusalem Baptist Church, reflecting his compassion for the less fortunate and his belief in helping those in need. He served as a faithful deacon for over 30 years at New Providence Baptist Church, Mt. Horeb Baptist Church, First Jerusalem Baptist Church, and most recently Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
Karl found joy in fishing, a beloved tradition that brought him to the serenity of the water. An avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Florida State, he followed his teams with an enthusiasm that highlighted his spirited nature.
Karl was very handy and always had a project going on. He relished spending time with his family, embracing each moment together as a precious gift. Whether he was engaging in a hands-on project or planning trips, his love for his family was evident and profound.
