New Iberia - A loving mother, grandmother, and beloved friend to so many - Kate Groner, a resident of New Iberia , Louisiana passed away on April 22. 2011.
She generously shared her huge capacity for love with not only her family, but to all who had the pleasure of being her friend. Born in Covington , Louisiana she was a child during the Great Depression, her father moving the family to New Orleans where she graduated from high school. She worked in Baton Rouge where her marriage to Cleve Currier brought her loving daughter, Sarite. She then met and married the love of her life, Marion William Groner where they lived briefly in Monroe and then New Iberia where they raised their two children, Marilyn and David. Her beloved husband predeceased her at an early age, and she did a remarkable job caring for and educating her young children. During her life she was an active member of her community. After her conversion to the Jewish faith she became active in support of the Jewish congregations of New Iberia and Lafayette .
She will be forever loved and missed by her children and family and the many friends whose lives she touched.
Her daughter Sarite passed away only last month. Also, she is preceded in death by her mother and father, Roy and Osa Nelson, her sisters Nettie Baum Nelson; Sarah Boutte and Margarite May.
Survivors include Sarite's husband, Henry Bacque; her daughter Marilyn and husband Greg Pickett; her son David Groner and wife Carolyn her grandchildren Dan Bacque; Danielle Sundvall; Gus Bacque; Saul Pickett , Kevin Pickett and great grandchildren Leeanna Bacque; Sarah Bacque; Raymond Sundvall ; Russell Sundvall and Logan Bacque.
She also is survived by her loving nephew Roy Nels Boutte and wife Cheryl and daughter Kirsten; and niece Antia Britt and husband Wayne and children Jason and Darren.

A gathering of family and friends will be at 2:00 PM April 25th, 2011 at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia with a memorial service at 4:00 PM , with Rabbi Barry Weinstein officiating.
