New Iberia – Memorial services will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 29, 2026, for Kathryne Cooper Delcarpio, 73, who passed away on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

Entombment will be at a later date.

Visitation will be at Pellerin Funeral Home on Monday from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.

A reception will be held at Pellerin Funeral Home immediately following the services.

Kathryne Elizabeth Cooper Delcarpio, also known as Ms. D., was born in Wichita, Kansas on October 27, 1952, to the late Carl Lee Cooper and Judy Kathryne Stauffer Cooper. She attended the Haysville Public School Unified School District 261: Nelson Elementary School, Haysville Junior High School, then graduation from Campus High School in 1970. She then attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, graduating in 1974 with a BA in Communications and Secondary Education. She continued her education at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana in MEd Curriculum and Instruction, Academic Gifted English Education (1998) and Certification in English as a Second Language (2007).

Her first job was working for her family at Sandy Beach in Wichita, Kansas when she was 14, running concessions and lifeguard from 1965-1972. She then began her career in education with the Orleans Parish Public Schools in New Orleans: Secondary ELA at JS Clark Senior High (1974) and Margaret Haughery School Magnet School for Teenage Expectant Mothers (1974-1979); then St. Tammany Parish Public Schools: Pearl River High School, Pearl River, LA from 1979-2007; then Cowley Country Community College in Wichita, KS, Christ Episcopal School in Covington, LA, Peace Corps Ukraine—Teacher Education in 2012, then Southeastern Louisiana Community College in New Iberia (Adult ESL).

She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist (UU); St. Tammany and Iberia Parishes DPEC; AAUW; League of Women Voters; and a Board of Trustee Member at Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas. Active in the arts, she performed in many Lafayette and Iberia Parish Community Theaters. She enjoyed political activism and genealogical research. She will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Delcarpio is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Joseph Bonifas Delcarpio; children, Kathryne Ann “Annie” Cooper Delcarpio Burgel (Brad) of New Iberia, and Thomas Joseph Cooper Delcarpio of Lafayette; and grandchildren, Wyatt Andrew Barras, Ian Paul Barras, Aden Brock Barras, Brianna Burgel, and Landen Burgel.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Carl Len Cooper and Kelly Ken Cooper.

Kathryne will remain in our hearts forever. May she rest in peace.
