Kelly Michelle Batiste

St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Notre Dame Catholic Church for Kelly Michelle Batiste, 47, who passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. 

A visitation will take place at Notre Dame Catholic Church on Saturday from 7:00 am until the time of Mass at 10:00 am. 

A Rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday morning. 

Interment will follow at House of Love Cemetery in St. Martinville. 

Kelly was a lovable fashionista, the Belle of the ball with a smile that was so heavenly contagious, she could light up any room. Kelly was born on July 24,1976. Kelly enjoyed shopping and styling. She was known for her ability to accessorize "Dare to be Different ". She was an infectious social butterfly. Kelly was everyone's T-Kell. 

Kelly was born in St. Martinville, La and graduated from Saint Martinville Senior High Class of 1995. She started her career as as preschool teacher at Ledoux Daycare Center. She went on to work at Butterflies Day Care for 18yrs. She loved working with children, and the children and families cherished her. She then went on to pursue her bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. Eventually moving onto working as a SPED teacher. Kelly enjoyed throwing parties, spending time with family and traveling & cruising the seas. She was a very giving person and a good friend to anyone who came into contact with her. 

She is survived by her significant other of 17 years, Jermaine Porche, mother, Mary Prenella Darbigny; sons, Dandre Charles and Dominique Charles; daughter, Keondria Charles; grandchildren, Bentley Green and Knox Stewart; brother, Justin Batiste, Sr.; and sister, Shavonne Gordon. 

She is preceded in death by her father, Rufus Batiste; step-father, Joseph Darrell Darbigny; paternal grandparents, Rufus and Atrice Batiste, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Merline Orphe, Sr.; maternal grandmother, Mary Atrice Leon; niece, Kennedy Gordon; nephew, Justin Batiste, Jr; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Pallbearers will be Charles Kelly, Francis Barras, Clifford Etienne, Jr., Trevious Kelly, Gabriel Orphe and Joseph Orphe III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brandon Gordon, Keowne Porche, Bernard Batiste, Perry Batiste, Jr., Paul Glaude, James Landry and Matthew Landry.
